Someone may have mentioned this already, but Stars by Hum is not off Downward is Heavenward, it’s from You’d Prefer An Astronaut, a far better record in my opinion. Wonderful band, very nice guys. Matt Talbott is now producing very good music at present.

I’ve always hated car commercials for ruining really great songs… but I’m dumbfounded how they got a HUM song into the mix on this commercial… I thought maybe I was the last HUM fan out there. I’m kind of proud to hear HUM on tv…

I remember the first time I heard the song, it was on MTV “new bands” or something, it was a late show and I had already had my share of the keg… I loved that band the minute I heard them, so the next day I ran down to the local music shop and requested a cd “HAM” cuz, I had apparently misread the letters on the tv being slightly inebriated… Luckily the shop keeper wouldnt give up and 30 minutes later we came across their ONLY copy of HUM and we stuck it in the cd player and listened to some of the songs right there in the store… good times.. anyway ROCK ON…

I always just crank this thing up halfway through the commercial everytime I never grow tired!
But then I get the next commercial real loud so I get something like
DIABETEEES IS NOOO FUUUN.
I seen Hum every chance I get and have even bumped into them in the clubs they’ve been at.
Really nice guys and always turn in great shows!
By the way the song is called Stars from Downward Is Heavenward as mentioned above.

John, I was watching TV and saw the Cadillac commercial and I heard the riff as well. I found my self humming…something took the train from mars…counting cars… I thank you for posting this comment because now I can buy the song and I am not stuck humming pieces to the lyric ad naseum.

I just heard the new Cadillac commercial and instantly recognized the great rock riff of one of my favorite bands, HUM. The song from the commercial is from their most played song and every time I hear it, which happens at least once a week on my local noon hour request segment on Phoenix local 103.9, and yell at the radio “Play something, anything from their album Downward Is Heavenward,” which I would have to bring with me if stranded on a desert isle. I wish more people new of HUM. Sadly, they are no more.
